As providers of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) one of our roles is to make sure that our new teachers are best prepared for current pedagogies. Some challenges are emerging for our trainee teachers in the mathematics classroom who are attempting to reconcile the strong messages from Singapore and Shanghai in text book pedagogy with the meeting of the Teachers’ Standards.
AMET invites all those involved in the provision of ITE to join a discussion led by colleagues who will critique text book pedagogy from an academic, a practical and a political perspective.
