The Childhood and Society Special Interest Group (C&S SIG) aims to promote debate on practices and theories shaping education, welfare and lives-lived by children in contemporary societies. We’re made up of researchers working across a broad spectrum of topics, including:
- theories of childhood;
- children’s everyday lives at home, school and in communities;
- children’s engagements with play, art and digital technology; and
- cultures of childhood, rights and participation;
The childhood and society SIG holds a firm commitment to critical research that recognises the complexities of contemporary childhoods and explores them through theoretically-driven intellectual projects, empirical research and evaluation projects.
